Online Physical Examination Education System “iPax”
WRITER
iPax is an online education system for learning physical skills and knowledge.
The iPax is a physical education system that provides hands-on (active) training in vital, inspection, palpation, and auscultation.
Case studies are available on the iPax. The patient’s vital signs, inspection, palpation, and auscultation are measured by the user (learner), and a final diagnosis is made by judging the results of X-ray, ECG, and UCG
For example, the following animation shows a 30 year-old male company employee complaining of chest pain.
A 30 y.o. male, company employee, complaining of chest pain
- Open the content, you can see his medical history and vital signs.
- Blood pressure is measured by listening to Korotkoff sound while looking at the blood pressure monitor displayed on the screen (cannot listen to the sound on this animation screen).
- Inspection and palpation are examined with images and/or movies(“Tips” for inspection and palpation are also introduced.)
- Auscultation is diagnosed by moving the chest piece icon over the anterior image on the screen (In actual content, if you remove the auscultation area/strongest point, you will listen to the sound decreasing.)
- The final diagnosis is made after the examination such as the chest X-ray and ECG, UCG.
- The dedicated speaker “Kikuzo” allows you to listen to the heart and/or lung sounds, measure patient blood pressure, and simulate touching the pulse and thrill (use earphones if you don’t have a Kikuzo speaker).
- Video explanation by the supervisor, Dr. Tsunekazu Takashina (Chairman of the Japan Education Clinical Cardiology Society).
